This one was a treat to produce. Wanted to reach a feeling of a micro environment, like inside of our body. And I always love to take these scenes and make them into light and animation studies. From this I refined my skills with VOPs and Vellum.
The hairs you see are animated through vops and normals with noises and exporting benddir and bendamount to use with grooming tools. Then rendered through hair system in octane which is much faster. A lot of control and art direction instead of simulating through vellum.
The creature was made with vellum using glue constraints.
And also a POP system.
I had in place hair skinning inside houdini but exporting this amount of geo would be a LOT of gbs which is not needed.
